In 1917 a revolution took place in Russia in an attempt to over trough the Tsar Nicholas II. Eventually the Bolsheviks(communist) party led by Vladimir Lenin, took over the government beginning the 70 year control of the Soviet Union over Russia. After Lenin's death in 1927 Josef Stalin took over the USSR. Life was horrible for many under Stalin's rule. My name is Vadam Sokolov and I am a young man living in the soviet Union during Stalin's rule. He had complete control over everything such as government, media, cooperation and the people. He made sure that any who were against communism or his rule were arrested or forced to labor camps. We lost all of our freedom. Many people We lived under horrible conditions, we lived in these over crowded apartments that was easily accessible for the secret police. No one could get away with anything. Many children and young adults including myself were forced to join youth programs that taught them to be completely loyal to Communism and worship Stalin. We also practiced total atheism because religion was considered a threat to communism. In 1948 some time after WWII the USSR tested the worlds second successful nuclear weapon. An arms race began between us and US. Since then we've live in fear that we would be bombed or attacked. In 1953 Stalin died. While in power over 10 million Russians were killed under Stalin's Life in the USSR was starting to improve but not by much. After 70b years of suffering on Christmas Day 1991, communism was dismantled and replaced by a democratic government. Russia is finally free.
